My information is that "' j, " 1 the line-up is still a proposal. It was .' . J J iiiieresting. Moab would be in Region f J Ten which would resemble the prcs- I '.- i ent Region Six, but exclude Union H and Uintah. From information com- ' jf't . ,' in- out or the state wrestling tourney it would appear the state is ready to go a four classification classifica-tion system for three sports. Only football, basketball and wrestling would be affected. Additional meetings on the subject .were scheduled this week. The next two weeks might.be called the spring vacation of sports on the high school level at least oailv. Coach Ward Curtis says he will not start baseball base-ball for two weeks. Ditto for Del Ford and the track program. Coif coach, Glen Richcson says he will watch the weather, then decide. That might be wise. It seems the last few years like we have spring during basketball and .winter during the spring sport season. While cn the subject of spring sports, Coach Glen Richcson is rather disturbed over a ruling of the Activities Activ-ities Association on the Moab Invitational Golf Tournament. Tourna-ment. The ruling restricts the tourney to four- Utah schools and four Colorado schools. Twice that number . of out-of-state entries have already asked to come. Richeson's problem is who to invite and who to exclude. The schools involved also invite Moab for matches so some feelings must naturally be ruffled. The reason for the ruling which dims a very unique tourney, are not known. Although there was no team championship offered, the Salt Palace Indoor Track Meet saw Moab do very well. The Devils scored 19 points on the National Federation Fed-eration scoring scale which placed them .fifth among the 60 or so schools entered. Skyline was first with a whopping whop-ping 67 points. Two foreigners, Great Falls, Montana ind Rock Springs, Wyoming were in the first five. Over twenty schools did not score a point while 35 schools placed someone. The mile relay victory for Moab did not figure in the scoring as it was a special event run off during the college meet. |
