Show Utah Oil and Gas Drilling Highlighted by Discoveries New oil and gas discoveries in Utah are currently receiving re-ceiving wide attention throughout through-out the Rocky Mountain West and across the nation. Interest Inter-est in Utah's oil producing regions is greatly stimulated due largely to the increased interest generated recently by several new discoveries, according ac-cording to word Wednesday from Carlton Stowe, staff mineral specialist, Utah Geological Geo-logical and Mineralogical Survey. He noted that Petroleum Information Corp., Denver based oii industry information gathering service, reported several significant developments develop-ments in Utah this week. Another An-other discovery in the Alta-mont Alta-mont area is completed by Shell Oil Company. Their No. 7-18-B5 Shell-Ute well, some four miles southwest of nearest near-est production, flowed 1,077 barrels of oil and one and a half million cubic feet of gas per day. Production is found at a deep 12,516 to 13.659 ft depth in the Wasatch formation. The Utah Oil Sc. Gas Conservation Division re- . ports Shell Oil has scheduled . two more 14,000 ft. projected depth wells in the . area as well as new work by Chevron Oil Company. Petroleum Information In-formation also reports the deep test by Continental Oil in Uintah County recovered gas shows on a test at about 14,800 feet and on an earlier test made at about 12,000 feet. In San Juan County, Zoller & Danneberg Exploration recovered re-covered 658 barrels of oil daily on its initial completion attempts at their well a mile and a half southeast of production pro-duction in Aneth field. TI12 prospect, according to Petroleum Petrol-eum Information, when completed com-pleted will be a Paradox formation for-mation discovery well. Work is continuing near Moab at the Union Oil Company's Com-pany's Burkholder Unit well. Union is drilling at a deplh below 10,90 feet and will go to about 12,000 feet for potential poten-tial testing of the Mississip-pian Mississip-pian formation. Toledo Mining Min-ing Company reports its oii discovery in the Bull Canyon Can-yon area , about 18 miles northwest north-west of the town of Cisco is still testing for final completion comple-tion gauge. PI Drilling Reports Re-ports also show several other wells working in Grand County!. Coun-ty!. Atlantic Richfield is tesf-ing tesf-ing a 6,200 foot well in the Overlook .field area and Oil Resources is drilling a projected pro-jected 6,100 foot Enlrada sand test in the Westwater area. Harley Dome, one of Utah's oldest fields, is also scheduled schedul-ed to get new drilling. |
