Show District Court Fall Term Opened Here Tuesday The opening of the fall term of District Court was held in Grand County Tuesday with Judge Edward Sheya presiding, presid-ing, and a full calendar of matters. The first order of business was to continue the probation of all the probationers who were in good standing and were fulfilling all of the terms of their probations. The only criminal matter on the calendar was the case of the State of Utah vs. Gary W. Sheeley, Robert D. Slama and Richard L. Loghry, who were charged in 2 seperate cases: burglary of a vehicle, and burglary in the third degree, a felony. They appeared for arraignment, arraign-ment, and Judge Sheya had the information in each case read to the defendants, after which he asked them if they were ready to enter a plea. Each defendant, in the presence pre-sence of his counsel, pleaded innocent. The first case was set for trial Dec. 11 at 10 a.m. before a jury, and the second case was set for trial Dec. 16 at 10 a.m. before a jury. Numerous probate matters were disposed of by the court. The final accounting and petition for distribution in the estates of Winifred M. Lorton, Irvin M. Day and Veone Dalton were granted; and the petition for determination of heirship in the estate of Antonio Leone was granted. Judge Sheya granted the following divorces: Dorothy M. Provonsha from Dan G. Provonsha; Delbert Jim Hayes from Denise K. Hayes; Veda Ross from Melvin A. Ross; E. Leon Hickman from Alvinna Alyece Hickman; Beck Ann Limas from Joe Luis Limas; and Eva Lorraine Nicol from John Gabriel Nicol. The court quieted title in a parcel of real estate in Mr. and Mrs. Paul B. Allen and against Mr. and Mrs. Ballard Harris, Sylvie Ekker, et al. In addition, the case of Alfred T. Slama, et al, vs. Firestone Tire and Rubbert Co., et al, was set for Jan. 20, 1976 at 10 a.m. before a jury. |
