The drivers, both Moab men, were not Injured (T-l Staff Photo, Frank Roseman) Trucks Damaged in Wedneday Accident An accident involving two trucks driven by local men occurred Sept. 17 at 8:25 a.m. near Kane Springs park on U.S. 163 south. Alva F. Rockwell, driving a 1971 Kenworth truck and trailer belonging to McFarland & Hullinger south approaching approach-ing the park, swerved to avoid hitting a slow-moving vehicle ahead. His rig ran into a gully and overturned, coming to rest in the southbound lane. Following his rig was a 1972 Ford semi truck and trailer belonoino tn Palmer Brothers and driven by George Everett Evans. He slid to a stop but hit the Kenworth before he was fully stopped. Damage to the Kenworth was estimated between $16,000 and $17,000, and damage to the Ford was estimated at $1,200. Highway Patrol Trooper Phil Barney cited both drivers for speed too fast for existing conditions. |
