Show Moab Museum Offers Much fo Area Visitors The Moab Museum, which began in 1958, is now in its fifteenth year as a place to explore the past in Southeastern Utah. It is a clean, well groomed, respectable place as it has been for many years. The museum was funded fund-ed by Grand County and the City of Moab back in 1958 and it began as a project of the Moab Women's Wo-men's Literary Club. The original building was donated by Grand County and was located in a brick structure just east of the Liquor Store on Center Street. The present building operated at the corner of Center and First East Streets, has been the place of museum business busi-ness for approximately five years. Present curator, cur-ator, Virginia Fossey has been with the museum for approximately twelve years. Contained within the museum are seen types of permanent exhibits. ex-hibits. They are histori-p cal, archeological. min--eralogical. black light.' ', geological, gem stones.' ; and uranium mining and milling. ; ', The building affords; many opportunities for: Moab' people or people. ; simply passing through! the area to become edii-l cated to a past of leaping and bounding growth in Southeastern Utah. Permanent exhibits, including an extensive mineral exhibits have been donated by many mining milling enterprises enter-prises including Hidden Splender, Texas Gulf Sulphur Sul-phur and Atlas Minerals. Charles A. Steen has donated don-ated many of the cases located there. Mr. Ellsworth Fossey is presently filling in for his wife who is ill. He donates a great deal of his lime to doing handy work around the facility. Mrs. Fossey has kept the museum clean and neat with help from others since about 1961, when she began as a receptionist. re-ceptionist. Past curators hae been L. A.
