Show Airport Work. . . Schocker Construction moved back into the airport last Thursday to begin completion of reconstruction recon-struction work there, according to County Commission Commis-sion Chairman G. H. Newell this week. The company has started mixing mulch for the leveling course and all the gravel for this course is presently on the south end of the runway. The crews are presently working on the south half of the airstrip air-strip and the north half remains open to small aircraft. According to Commissioner Newell, the runway will be done in two sections so that it can remain open all during the construction period. The contractor has 31 working days from June 5, to complete the work. Additional time is allowed for inclement weather, according to Mr. Newell and it is expected that the work will be completed about the middle of July. After the final work on the $400,000 project is completed, Frontier Airlines will be required to come back into Moab to provide service. The airline suspended sus-pended service to Moab last July and has an application applica-tion for permanent suspension pending before the Civil Aeronautics Board. Action on that application has not yet been taken. |
