Show Visitor Center Receives Help From Moab City It appears that Moab's problem-beset Visitor Center has found a benefactor that will allow the facility to open this tourist season with the furnishings fur-nishings and finishings that can show the community com-munity and its tourist-oriented facilities off the way they should be. After over a year of "trying to get it all -together." while harassed with broken pipes, red tape and innumerable other slow -downs, the center is now enjoying landscaping installation and hopes to be finished up for grand opening yet this summer. However, the monies from the many governmental govern-mental units participating in the project so far have flat run out. Coming to the rescue are the City Fathers, who have included $5 thousand of revenue sharing monies in the city budget for the upcoming fiscal year for the remaining work in the center. Another inclusion is $24 thousand for the visitor center park, and various other amounts for parks elsewhere in town. Federal revenue sharing has allowed our community, com-munity, and countless others across the nation, to involve in this type of community improvement project. We salute Mayor Nunce and the City Council for considering what is not strictly Moab City business in drawing up a budget which includes the item of the Visitor Center. The proper finishing of .that project can only work to the good of the community and its residents. |
