Girls State Participants Return viub boys who attend-' State, sponsored American Legion Post 54, returned last week after spending June 9-16 at I'tah State University. In all, 5S3 boys from around the state were in attendance. From Moab, Gene Rob-; Rob-; erts served as Nation-l Nation-l alist Party State Dele-t Dele-t gate and was in the city of Manilla. During the conference, cities were ! named after battles fought and counties were I named in honor of past ; governors of the state. Kevin Denne.v was ', Mayor of Pusan City and ; Nationalist State Dele- gate, while Mike Walter- scheid served as chief ; police of Chateau Thier-! Thier-! ry. He was also City ; Baliff, Nationalist party delegate and Nationalist County delegate. Serving as City Judge of Santiago was Calvin Oliver and Kevin McFarland Mc-Farland was chief of transportation and deputy depu-ty for Ramagen City. Stan Baker served as a state delegate for the Federalist Party. Attending Girls State, sponsored by the American Ameri-can Legion Auxiliary, were Jill Cook and Becky Hayes. Miss Cook served as County delegate and was in charge of City Sanitation at Rampton City while Miss Hayes served as state representative, repre-sentative, state delegate, sgt. at arms, judge of elections and town cryer for Spry City. There were 375 girls who attended the program this year from across the state. Cities at Girls State were named after governors of Utah. American Legion and Legion Auxiliary members mem-bers this week issued a special thanks to those Moab merchants who sponsored each student and made their trip possible. |
