Show Grand Junction Plays Host This Year To 13th Annual iimerols Symposium Grand Junction will play host this spring to the 13th annual Mineral Symposium on May 24 and 25. The event is under sponsorship of the Colorado Plateau Section of the American Institute of Mining Metallurgical and Petroleum Pe-troleum Engineers. The Mineral Slmposium originated or-iginated 13 years ago at Moab Mo-ab as the "Uranium Symposium". Sympos-ium". The name was later changed to Mineral Symposium Sympos-ium and the scope broadened to include other minerals such as oil, potash, and oil shale. In addition to Moab, the Symposium has been held , at Grants, N. M., Riverton, Wyo., and Grand Junction Colo., sponsored by AIME. sections. Several hundred people attend at-tend this annual event, which now represents a broad coverage cov-erage of the mining and pro cessing industries of the Western states. At the 1968 Grand Junction meeting, speakers will cover technical and non technical subjects relating to mining, metallurgy and geology. Social Soc-ial events are also being plan 'hed. Committees are now at work on the 1968 program. W. E. Todd, of E. I. DuPont Co.,. Grand junction, is general chairman of the event. Carl W. Appelin, of the U. S. A-tomic A-tomic Energy Commission's Grand Junction offices is chairman of the host group, the Colorado Plateau Section of AIME.
