Show Dear Sam, I have read about and heard others say what a wonderful won-derful experience it is to view Moab Valley from an airolane, but unless you actually ac-tually experience it and see things with your own eyes vou can't possibly believe it! Words can not describe or define de-fine the breath-taking beauty of the universe and the human hu-man mind cannot comprehend or contain it! Leaving Houston, Texas in a mistv shower, the plane rose above the clouds that looked like fleecy lambs or the heavy waves at sea, and yet above us were blue skies and the sun was shining in the distance. Later the horizon horiz-on was red with the sun going go-ing down and behind us was the monn all at the same time. Clear skies gave us a night view of the beautiful citv of Denver still with their Christmas decorations and lights sparkling like jewels. Yet in Grand Junction it was snowirig and our plane flight was cancelled for the evening even-ing and we had to leave Den- ver the next dav at noon. Because we had to stav in Denver. I had the good luck of viewing our beautiful Can-vonlands Can-vonlands Park in the dav time. The La Sal mountains were a sieht to behold and the Castleton (Castle Vallev) rocks emerged red from the piles of glittering snow! The familiar creeks from the La Sal mountains through Castleton Castle-ton winding on down through the old Pace Ranch (now the McCormick Ranchl gave me a thrill I can not describe! Manv vears - ago I attended the little Red School House in Castleton. Utah and on hol-idavs hol-idavs such as Christmas I enjoyed en-joyed sleigh rides with Lu cille and Dorothy Pace. Their uncle. Jack Pace, about our a?e. hitched the horse to the sle'gh and took us for wonderful won-derful rides all over Castle Vallev and now I was viewing the scene from an airplane! Tnc'dentally, I flew to Grand Junction in a small Hub Air plane (4 seatsl as did all the others who left our local airport air-port on Dec. 20th trying to get to Denver to make other connections for our destination. destina-tion. In Denver the Continental Continen-tal had already gone and on a stand-bv basis after walking walk-ing for miles inside the airport air-port building. I was lucky enough to get a seat with Praniff on a plane that goes directlv to Panama with stops in Dallas and Houston. Mv suitcase finally caught up with me five davs later but I was luckv again because a friend of mine going to Indianapolis Indi-anapolis from Houston never got her luggage until almost three weeks later when the suitcases finally arrived in Houston! The confusion was all due to the weather that caused cancellation of flights and piled un cargo and luggage lug-gage at all airports! A professor I once had at BYU advised all teachers to "enrich our experiences" over ov-er the weekends, on vacations, vaca-tions, etc. For me I can truly say that I've never had a more enriching experience than flying over our Moab Valley and knowing how lucky we are to live in this little town when all around us others have suffered with so much snow and severe weather.
