Near J 7U0 square iniles of public lands were withdrawn for the AEC in i:f,:ja;, but all of it was restored re-stored to the public domain over the years except the ar- ea covered by these drill logs. Hie greater part of the 5J square miles still withdrawn is in Mesa Montrose, and San Miguel counties in Colorado. Smaller areas are in Grand . and San Juan counties, Utah, and in McKinley county, New .Mexico. The AEC drill logs are known as "lithologic strip Jogs," and they show geologic geol-ogic lithology and gamma ray probe charts. Assay information informa-tion is compiled on separate sheets. The LSGS drill hole data sheets bear the title, "Geologic "Geol-ogic and Assay Logs." Information Infor-mation contained includes location, lo-cation, depth, collar elevation, d aj drilled, and a running log -jf geologic information observed for the hole, with assay data on any sample assayed, as-sayed, i Hie drill log information is being made available because be-cause it might be useful to companies and individuals interested in-terested in properties near the AEC lands, since the geologic ge-ologic formations drilled for the AEC in some cases may extend beyond the boundaries of the withdrawn areas. |
