Show i , ; - needed project It is noteworthy that someone- has formally ap- j peared before the County Commission to request some : landscaping at Canyonlands Airport. The facility at present lends something less than an imposing impression in its present almost barren state. Yet for the many travelers enroutie- to Moab on Highway 160, and for visitors arriving via the airlines, Canyonlands Airport is their first impression of Moab. We- hope the Commission gives serious thought to Manager Royal Halter's request, and paves the way for a beautification project. We would also hope that the- landscaping is more than minimal, and that it includes not only grass and shrubbery, but shade trees as well, lending an ''Oasis in the Desert" appearance similar to the visitor's first impression as he drops into Moab Valley from the north. , It is not consistent to advertise a land for its asthetic beauty, with hopes that tourists will wear a path to its door, then greet them with back-door ugliness. |
