Show Community Comments .1 It's fun to keep track of people who have had a lot to do with our community over the years. m Moab has had a tremendous tremen-dous number of people in past years, who deeply involved in-volved in community life, but for one reason or another an-other have taken employment employ-ment elsewhere. It is interesting inter-esting to note how many of 1 Q them still feel real ties to this town, however, and continually indicate their loyalty and desire to return. We can keep up with some of them through an annual note along with the check for another year's subscription to the T-I. For instance, w? always look forward to a note -frem C. F. "Strawberry" Reichard, who was active, in the Moab oil business twenty-five twenty-five years ago. Now living in the Pacific Northwest, Strawberry Straw-berry still keeps up on activities activ-ities here. His note this week indicated that he planned to vacation in Moab this summer. sum-mer. j And we got from Bob Nor-' Nor-' man this week, a note from Sam Constantino sparkplug of the Moab Chamber of Commerce during the uranium uran-ium boom days. Sam is now working in a public relations firm in the Los Angeles area, and is still a very active Moab booster. 4 One native Moabite, who was never quite able to - break the old-home ties is coming back. It is a real pleasure to welcome home Kay Hawks, who will soon take over as administrator of the Allen Memorial Hospital. Hos-pital. Kay has had his fill of living under the smog, , and is really looking for- I' ward to returning. sjt Larry Norman was one of many people who commented this week on last week's column col-umn reference to meeting friends and acquaintances at the Post Office each morning. morn-ing. He indicated he had found another interesting meeting . place that should someday be ffl the subject of a Comments 'I column. "Taking a load or m two of trash to the City dump is quite an experience," Lar-f Lar-f ry said. He went on to say that in the process of cleaning clean-ing his yard last weekend, he had occasion to make several trips to the dump on the hill, where he met quite a number k of friends similarly involved, Ij and observed the interesting r goings-on at that popular gall ga-ll thering spot. We'll keep it in mind for a f future colmun, Larry. sjt I told Mrs. Mars Pope of the Library Board this week that I was really tickled over the way the new library is turning out. She seemed 'J quite surprised and pleased, commenting that she had received re-ceived some adverse comments com-ments on the design for the ,new building. I am afraid that there was never a public building erected anywhere that satisfied satis-fied everyone. I don't know how architects manage to maintain enthusiasm for , their work when they know QC eac1 masterpiece is going ' to meet with mixed emotions. emo-tions. 7WC Well, I like the new library. ' ft's my opinion that Ralph Edwards has done a fine joo of designing afacility that is attractive, suitable to the Slfe and most important . within our financial means. J 9Ur hearty congratulations "" this week to Dick Pizza, former for-mer Moab manager for Utah fwer and Light Co., who has lust been boosted to the posi-"n posi-"n of director of sales and marketing for the whole UPL system. |
