Show . MEXICO'S OFFOnTUlIITIES. ' . For the young, alert American youth, we know of no country that offers more promise or more op-i op-i portunities. than our sister republic, Mexico'. Under old man Diaz, whom we hold as one of the very foremost statesmen 'of this age, Mexico - has had a quarterof a century of peace. Revolutions Revolu-tions have ceased to be the rule, and under Diaz some lieutenants have been trained so that when the aged President falls from the ranks the present order will be continued. . When Diaz first assumed the Presidency he in-. in-. .vited the strong and enterprising of other nations to come to Mexico, promising them protection and . equal opportunities with- the native born. He has kept his word so well that Americans have carried to Mexico and invested in that country $800,000,000, and they are prospering exceedingly. Farming, stock raising and fruit raising are all great industries. The best coffee that comes to this country is Mexican coffee ; its capacities for producing produc-ing sugar and tobacco are unsurpassed ; the lands are still, cheap ; Diaz has gridironed the republic with railroads and more are under construction; Mexico is in great part a table land and the climate is perfect indeed its attractions and its promises of progress are unsurpassed, j Then while we are proud of our mines, and justly so, they do not equal those of Mexico. For . ' ' ' 300 and more years her mines have been a mighty factor in the world's finances, and still within the . t past decade some of the most marvelous discoveries of new mines have been made and the field is still open. . Mexico is in a position to say: "If you want to explore any field, in either the mineral or vegetable vege-table kingdom, come to us, we have the very foremost fore-most opportunities in the world and they are all open to you." |
