Show TEXT-BOOK AGENTS EXPLOITING THEIR WARES IN THE CITY Book agents in unusual numbers are in the city this week. They are seen principally in the offices of the Superintendent Super-intendent of Schools and members of the Board of Education, and conferring with principals of the schools. The reason for the influx just at present is that the books to be used in the city schools, next year and for a number of years to come are soon to be selected. se-lected. The text-book committee of the Board of Education holds frequent conference con-ference and a list will be drawn up soon. Selections for books in every branch of school work, from the readers of the primary grades to the works on higher mathematics and the sciences taught in the high school, are to be selected. Superintendent Christenson expects no radical changes, but there is enough of an element of doubt to justify the activity of the representatives representa-tives of the publishing houses. The same conditions obtain in the other cities of the first class in Utah Ogden, Murray and Provo. |
