Show MINING BOOM AT MOAPA. Moapa. Nev.. has a mining boom. Following the sale of the big Cobb properties to an Eastern syndicate a large number of prospectors have invaded the region and many new claims have been taken up. Manager W. P. Jennings of the Urand Gulch company is now In Los- Angeles An-geles and rumor has it that this well-Known well-Known copper property will change hands, its control falling Into the capacious pocket of Charles Schwab, the former steel magnate, whose advent In Nevada nelds has stirred up things considerably. Among the new companies formed to operate In the district Is the Cedar Baoln Nevada Gold Mining company. Its first assays rim from $7 to $90 per ton and the outlook is good for much better showings as development work continues. This company has for its president J. H. Burt-ner Burt-ner and its manager Is C. M. Temple, who leaves for Moapa tomorrow to push work on the six claims owned by the company. Two hotels and three stores have been opened at Gold Butte, which is the center of mining activity. The name of the district dis-trict is St. Thomas and most of the mines are in Lincoln county, Nev., but one or two claims are over the line In Arisona. A crowd of Los Angeles people have gone in from that city, and Seattle spl-tal spl-tal has found Its way to the same district r the purpose of opening mines. The center of the activity is In the region of Cedar Basin, about fortv miles from Moapa on the Salt Lake Route, and as soon as the line Is open from this city a number will go In from here and from Colorado points. |
