Show MRS. HOLMAN NOW OFFERS A HOME TO HER DAUGHTER PITTSBURG, March 26. "Florence will always have a home as long as I live. Let the Thaws cast her off after the sacrifice she has made for them If they want to; she is my daughter and will return to me in time." In these words, Mrs. C. J. Holman, mother of Evelyn Nesbit-Thaw, has broken her silence. Heretofore Mrs. Holman has shown resentment against Evelyn, whom she still calls Florence as in the days of old, for testimony in the Thaw trial reflecting upon the quality of her mother loye. Only a week ago she is said to have exclaimed to a neighbor: "I have no daughter Florence is dead to me!" At the same time, it is related, she, with tears in her large dark eyes, said: "I suppose living with an insane person per-son would affect a perfectly sane mind that 's what has made Florence act so queerly." "I will never reproach Florence for her conduct in the past," said Mrs. Holman. "She is my daughter, and I love her. The past will be a sealed book between us. when this terrible ordeal is over. Naturally, I have some feeling against Harry Thaw, but I am not seeking vengeance. That is for others than me. "I did my best to be a good mother to Florence and she will realize that when she is a little older and away from those who have tried to influence her against me." |
