Show Just Folks By EDGAR A. GUEST NATIONS AT WAS Nations at war are liars all. Deceitful, savage brutes at best. Their music is the trumpet call. Destruction is their constant quest. Their art Is slaughter and their skill Is given to things designed to kilt Nations at war must throw aside All that exalts the work of man, Pity, religion, honor, pride, Cherished since reason first began, And bring their gifts from every source Unto the ruthless field of force. . Nations at war must plan and plot And put the dreams of science by Save those which scheme a larger shot By which more boys at once may die. Or seek, for slaughter in a mass, A more insidious poison gas. Nstlons at war cannot be kind, ' Though fine their peace-time teachings are.
