Herlihy, vice president In charge of operations of United Air Lines, testified today that acquisition acquisi-tion by his company of Western Air Express would result in many savings. Testifying before Roscoe Pound, former Harvard law school dean, sitting as a special trial examiner for the civil aeronautics authority, Herlffly said the proposed consolidation consoli-dation would result In economies in overhaul and repair of planes, in the purchasing department, in airport air-port fees and in various other operations. Oscar Trlppet, counsel for minority mi-nority stockholders of Western Air, who are opposing the proposed consolidation, con-solidation, asked Herlihy about United ! cash position. The witness replied that It was $5,000,000. United has announced plans to purchase 17 new planes costing about $4,775,000. |
