Show All Utah Observes Statehood Day Beehive Flag Displayed by Schools, Public Buildings With more ceremony than In the past, Utah's Statehood day was observed ob-served throughout the state Thursday. Thurs-day. Schools, business firms and public pub-lic offices Joined the observance by displaying the state flag. At the University ot Utah, President Presi-dent George Thomai presented a flag to the school. The banner was received by Joe P. Dyer, student body president, In a brief ceremony. cere-mony. It will be displayed In the Union building. The banner was obtained at the suggestion of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. At Bryant high school, classroom programs and a program In the mala hall were conducted at 11:30 a. m. Jessie Daley, student body historian and daughter of Mrs. Samuel E. Black, 779 Third avenue, ave-nue, told of the history of the banner ban-ner In the hall program. The flag was placed On permanent display. The movement for observance of Statehood day was begun by the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
