Show NEW SNOWFALL HITS U. AREA Farmers, Water Officials Hail Precipitation A snowfall .which weather bureau bu-reau officials predicted would last "all night" began in Salt Lake City at 1:18 p. m. Thursday, after a light rain fell for 45 minutes. Farmers and water officials hailed the new precipitation with Joy.' Following the record breaking storm of Tuesday night and early Wednesday, only a trace of precipitation precipi-tation was recorded at the local bureau bu-reau office during the 24-hour period pe-riod closing Thursday at 8 a. m. Meanwhile, farmers and stockmen stock-men were jubilant over the storm that left 1.34 Inches of precipitation In the Salt Lake area during the 24 hours closing Wednesday at 8 a. m. 'The moisture soaked 18 Inches Into the ground," Moses L. Hoi- brook, marketing supervisor for the state department of agriculture, agricul-ture, reported Thursdsy following a check of soils. "It has left the soil in fine shape, protecting trees and strawberry plants from frost and creating ideal conditions for winter plowing," Mr. Holbrook said.
