The rival B and A squad will compete Friday at the Deseret gymnasium in a double-header, while South, defending champion, will be idle until next week end, when it plays West. Oris Beeney, above, and Jack Earnshaw, left, return to strengthen West's lineup after being out of competition last season. Earnshaw is a clever, consistent scorer, Beeney a dependable guard. I featured players In the city' schools league are those in the A division who are engaging In their senior and final year of prep competition. Although victories registered by the A teams count no more toward the title than those of the B or C, students follow the activities of their A teem and Its more experienced and polished performers per-formers much more than either of the other two squads. The A teams of all three schools have been strengthened this season sea-son by addition of three-year men who remained out of competition last year. Two of these performers at each school will likely gain starting positions. West Stronger West high's A Panthers, who had th rough end of last basketball season, losing every gam, have two of these three-year men, Oris Beeney and Jack Ernshaw. Beeney Bee-ney Is a guard and Ernshaw a forward. for-ward. Beeney Is also a very clever dribbler. At center, Gordon Holmes, who is 6 feet 3 Inches tall. Is the leading lead-ing candidate. The Leopards at a B squad last season divided their two games with the Cubs, otherwise other-wise sweeping aside all opponents. Three of last season's B squad are almost certain of regular place in the A Uneup, while the other two posts ace still open. Ken Dean, center; Cleo Sinnard, forward, and Conway Dearden, guard, are the three prospective regulars. - Sinnard la a left-hander and a clever shooter who teems well with Dean.
