For many yean head of the department de-partment of pharmacology at the University of Utah, Dr. Le Roy Swingle is now owner of the Hawthorne Haw-thorne Drug company. He observes ob-serves his birthday anniversary today. Born In Pennsylvania, he la a graduate of Lafayette college In Easton, Pa., and th University of Nebraska, where he received his degree in parasigology. He formerly for-merly was a professor at Nebraska-Wesleyan Nebraska-Wesleyan university in Lincoln, Neb., and he also did research work at th University of Wyoming Wyo-ming for several years. He came to Salt Lak City 26 years ago, and was a University of Utah faculty member for 10 years, until ill health caused htm to retire. Dr. Swingle has been In the drug company business for 18 years. He resides at 804 East Seventeenth South street. "I don't have a hobby," he said. "I've just never had time to develop de-velop one." He considers his work his main Interest. He has four sons. Lyman Swingle, Brooklyn, N. Y.; Francis, Le Roy Jr. and Thomas, Salt Lake City, and one daughter, Mrs. Betty Ruhlander, Provo. He will enjoy a birthday dinner this evening with Mrs. Swingle and members of their family who are In the city. Dr. Swingle Is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, national honorary scholastic fraternity.
