Show TREES FUNERAL SERVICES SET BRICHAM CtTY-Funeral serv-lees serv-lees for David Morgan Rees, 83, pioneer Utahn and flrat marshal of Brlgham City, will be conducted Tuesday at 12:30 p. m. In the Brlgham Brlg-ham City Fourth L. D. S. ward chapel.' Mr. Rees died late Saturday Satur-day In a Brlgham City hospital after aft-er a abort Illness of Infirmities Incident In-cident to age. Mr. Rees was born July 13, 1846, to John Davis apd Mary 1UT A r a- a n ReeS I while the family Mr- B was en route from Wales to England, Eng-land, from where they later aalled for the United Statu. The family came to Utah in 1849, to Brlgham City. Mr. Rees was present at the Joining Join-ing of the Union Pacific and Central Cen-tral Pacific railroads at Promontory. Promon-tory. May iO, -184D Mr. Rees had been active In community com-munity and L. D. S. church affairs ever since the beginning of the city. In 1884 he was appointed marshal, the first in Brlgham City, and served until 1891. He was reappointed re-appointed to that post in 1894, and was reelected constable for eight years. On December 13, 1870, he married mar-ried Laura Burbank In the old L. D. S. Endowment house In Salt Lake City. His wife died in 1922. He Is survived by three sons and seven daughters, Mrs. Laura R. Merrell of Logan; Mrs. Clarence Whitehead of Burley, Idaho; Mrs. May R. Merrell, Mrs. R. A. Mad-sen, Mad-sen, Mrs. Crant A. Black. Mrs. Lorenzo H. Norr and Mrs. Junior Anderson of Brlgham City; D. L. Rees of Salt Lake City; Parley B. Rees of Inkom, Idaho, and Daniel M. Rees of Logan. Two brothers, Robert Rees of Brlgham City and Lorenzo Rees of Malad, Idaho, and six sisters, Mrs. Rachel Thomas of Malad, Idaho; Mrs. Maggie R. Wight, Mrs. Alvlra R. Blackburn. Mrs. Rose May Horsley and Mrs. Leah R. Reeder, all of Brlgham City, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. sur-vive. Interment will be in Brlgham Brlg-ham City cemetery. Friends may call at the home of Mrs. R. A. Madsen. 128 North First East street. Monday evening and Tuesday until time of services. |
