An overwhelming vote approving the tentative pacts wss anticipated by union spokesmen who had advised ad-vised the rank and file to ratify the agreements. Official tabulation of the coastwlde referendum will be made tomorrow. If, as expected, the vote is favorable, shippers snd union lesders will sign ths new agreements which will remain re-main in effect until next September. So confident were shipowners of an end to the three-month strike that they began accepting passenger bookings. First large passenger ships scheduled sched-uled to sail from here are the Dollar liner President Hoover and the Mat-son Mat-son liner, Maui, on Saturday. The Hoover will carry 3000 sacks of mail to tha Orient Meanwhile, negotiations were underway to settls the San Francisco Fran-cisco tugboatmen's strike which spread to Los Angeles yesterday. |
