Show DEADLINE SET BY ie CROSS Flood Relief Drive Ends Saturday Salt Lake county chapter of the American Red Cross will continue its drive for funds to aid flood victims vic-tims until Saturday night, officials said Tuesday. Ths chapter opened Its campaign for contributions ons week ago and the drive to reach all types of business busi-ness and industrial firms started later. J. J. Kelly, chairman of the fund raising committee, Tuesday had thoroughly organised his committee chairmen for handling the large concerns. He reported response to the appeal of the Red Cross hss been exceptionally good. Donations have been coming from many individuals indi-viduals as well as firms. Response Is ttood Mrs. T. U Hoiman, former chairman chair-man of the Salt Lake county chapter, chap-ter, and Mrs. H. W. Pickering, who sre in charge of contacting the small firms, reported good response Tuesday. Among the larger contributions received were announced by the L. D. S. church, which donated $500; the Utah Copper company, $700: local branch No. Ill of the National Association of Letter Carriers, $100. snd numerous other organliatlons. S50S Appropriate! City commissioners Tuesday appropriated ap-propriated $500 from tha city treasury treas-ury to Salt Lake county chapter. Before the drive waa started among business, industrial and commercial com-mercial firms, the chapter had forwarded for-warded $14,000 to the National Red Cross for relief work. Of that amount $11,000 came out of the chapter's permanent relief fund, exhausting this fund. |
