Nicholls. The report shows the municipal cash deficit was S131.122 less on January 11 than on the corresponding correspond-ing date last year. The deficit, however, still totals 1282,001. n Surplus Up The unappropriated surplus as of . January tl waa tU&Mi, fomparsd to 136,743 at the end of January last year. Revenue from all sources last month totaled $106,079.61,. but did not Include any current or prior years' taxes, the report states. On January 11, 1936, the revenue amounted to 1145,325.12 and Included 141,589 which accrued from prior years' taxes remitted to the city by the county treasurer. The expenditure figure of 1399.972 did not include 194,640 authorised to be spent for cast iron pipe to be used on a works progress administration adminis-tration project in southeast Salt Lake county, it was explained. And when the expenditure for pipe is properly entered on the books H will offset ths unappropriated surplus figure which appeared favorably on the report, attaches of the auditing department explained. Amounta Given Departments which have thus far In 1937 spent more than they did during the corresponding period last year, and the amount each has expended ex-pended over the 1936 figures, are: Auditor, 15.53; public affairs, 1114; public safety, 110,930, and water, 110.583. Departments which have spent less than they did during January, 1936, and the amount each has conserved, con-served, are: Library, 11786; parks, 14923; streets. 1446, and statutory and general gen-eral $6943.
