Show Broncos Beat Gaels on Good Breaks SAN FRANCISCO. Nov. 14 (UP) The St. Mary's Gael hsd the better of their battle with Santa Clara ss far as the statisticians were concerned, but they last where it really mattered on the scoreboard. Some 35.000 fans watched in Kezar stadium Sunday while the Broncos took advantage of everything every-thing that came their way to swamp the Gaels, 19-6. It was the 30th renewal of the traditional "little big game" between the schools. Although the Gaels outplayed the Broncos in the early part of the game, Santa Clara managed to score with their backs to their own goal line in the first quarter. On the Santa Clara 10, Uttle Abe Dung, speedy Honolulu defensive back. Intercepted a bullet pass from quarterback Dick Jarvis and raced 90 yards down the gridiron for a touchdown. Later In the period, the Broncos recovered the ball on their own 29 after a St. Mary's fumble. A march down the field brought them to tha 35, where Johnny Pasco passed to halfback Dick Haynes for the second sec-ond score of the game. Joe Vargas missed both conversion con-version attempts. In the second period, the Broncos got another touchdown, the climax of a 73-yard march and a 30-yard pass from Pasco to Haynes. Pasco went over' from the one-foot line for the score and Vargas this time made good tha extra counter. |
