Show Musical Fete Slated By Granite in April SOUTH SALT LAKE Music was purchased Friday for the Granite school district music de-' de-' pertinent's spring centennial program, pro-gram, which will be presented in - April under the direction of Murray Mur-ray .Lewis, acting district music director. The program will be presented with 1500 junior and senior high school students participating at Granite and Cyprus high schools three nights each. The students will be divided into three groups, high school instrumental instru-mental and vocal, junior high , school instrumental and the junior high school vocal. These will be alternated at the two high schools for three nights until each group has presented its program. The reason for the division of the junior high schools Is because of the large numbers of students participating. The combined band will contain over 200 pieces, with the orchestra having an additional 160 pieces, and the chorus will contain con-tain 500 voices. The total number of students participating from the two high schools will only be about 500. .The music will be distributed to the schools during the first week in January and they will practice there until the last two weeks before be-fore the performance, at which time three rehearsals of the entire cast will be held. Each music teacher In the district dis-trict will direct one or two numbers num-bers on the programs and the outstanding out-standing soloists of the district will also be Included. Aiding Mr. Lewis In making arrangements ar-rangements for the junior high schools are DeVerl Hurst, music instructor at Monroe junior high school. In charge of band; Dean Alsop, Granite junior high school, orchestra; Winston Woodge, Plymouth Plym-outh junior high school, vocal chairman. Adolph Brox, Granite high school music Instructor, will be chairman of the high school's program. |
