Show MIAMI BEGINS RACEJIEETING MIAMI, Fla., Jan. II OPvThe horses that run for money and glory returned to south Florida today with an Inaugural handicap opening 43 days of racing af tha Hialeah Park track of the Miami Jockey club. There were seven races on tha program. Tha inaugural was over the six-furlong six-furlong route and waa worth $2500 added to the winner. Mr. Sponge, veteran sprinter from the stables of Joseph E. Widener, stood out aa the favorite, although he waa assigned top Impost of 128 pounds. Jockey Buddy Hanford waa mounted. Curacao, representing the Green-tree Green-tree stables of Mrs. Payne Whitney, and ridden by S. Coucci, waa well liked in the overnight predictions, -as well as Larranga, representing the Anall stables of Allen Ryan, with Jockey Charley Kurtsinger up. |
