Show DOCTOR, WOMAN DIE TOGETHER . Bodies of S. L. Physician and Divorcee Found in Apartment Apart-ment Hotel Dr. Maurice M. Critchlow, 41. Salt Lake physician and surgeon, and Mrs. Macy Jane Ellerbeck, 24, were found dead In Dr. Crltchlow'i apartment apart-ment In the Belevedere Apartment hotel, 29 South State street, late Wednesdsy. . The bodies were discovered when Dr. Lawrence N. Ossman, an associate asso-ciate of Dr. Critchlow, and Clemm S. Schramm, manager of tha Ambulance Ambu-lance Service company, became alarmed when tha doctor did not appear ap-pear at his office. Notes addressed to Mrs. EUerbeck's father. E. M. Garnett court reporter of the United States district court and to the doctor'e brother, F. B. Critchlow, explained that the two had decided to take an overdose of morphine. Dr. L. E. Viko, city health commissioner, com-missioner, and Chief of Police W. L. Payne examined the bodies before they were removed to the Evans tc Early mortuary. Dr. Critchlow was In charge of tuberculosis work at St Mark's hospital hos-pital and the Salt Lake general hospital, hos-pital, and in charge of medicine at the United States veterans' hospital. He was born in Salt Lake in 1891 and had been practicing medicine here since 1919. He served as first lieutenant In the medical corps during the world war and was a graduate of Princeton university uni-versity and Rush college of medicine at the University of Chicago. He was a member of Wasatch lodge. Free and Accepted Masons, and the University club. Surviving are his widow. Mrs. Helen C. Critchlow: two children, I Joan and Mary Winifred Critchlow; 1 three brothers. F. B. Critchlow. George A. Critchlow and Walter M. ICrltchlow. all of Salt Lake, and three listers. Mrs. Elizabeth C. Hale of Salt Lake, Miss Anne J. Critchlow ond Mrs. Margery C. Day. both ol Johannesburg, South Africa. 1 Mrs. Ellerbeck was born In Salt Lake Februarv 25 1909. She waa manage' of he Wes"arrt Ho tea room. She divorced Winston Ellerbeck Eller-beck December 22. 1930, and had pre-ivinuslv pre-ivinuslv been divorced from Philip ' Marstella. She is survived by her father; a dauahter. Barbara Marstella; a , brother, Robert D. Garnett. and a sister, sis-ter, Nancy Garnett. all of Salt Lake. |
