Crosby-Former Crosby-Former Assistant Fir Chief of Salt Lake Close Career Byron Robert Crosby, 43, former Salt Lake assistant fire chief and former for-mer mounted police officer, died on Thursday at the family residence, 789 East Fourth South street after a short illness. Mr. Crosby was born In Salt Lake October 18. 1869. In 1891 ha Joined the fire department and, after a series of promotions, rose to assistant chief before he resigned in 1908 to Join the police department He served as a mounted patrolman for six years, when he left the police department to serve for a number of yeara-with the national guard, being in charge of guard mounts in Salt Lake. He was retired from work at the time of his death. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Alice Forbes Crosby; three sons, H. W. Crosby, R. E. Crosby and Eugene Crosby of Salt Lake; a sister, Mrs. C. M. Evans of Gold Hill, Utah, and 12 grandchildren. 1 |
