Show AN ENGINE RUNS AWAY Portland Mine Wrecked by Giant Machine Which Gets Beyond Control. VICTOR, March 1L The big double compound engine on the No. 2 shaft of the Portland mine ran away this morn-and morn-and literally tore Itself to pieces, as well as wrecking the shafthouse and tearing down the gallows frame. ' The loss will reach f.15.000 and It wfll require sixty days to re;-slr the damage. Just what- lsed the accident will never be known, : it is supposed that a key came out of -e part of the engine.
