Show BOISE GETS DONATION FOB CARNEGIE LIBBABT. BOISE, Ida., March 11. it has been settled set-tled that Boise will have' a donation from Carnegie for a library. Some time ago, after correspondence with Mr. Carnegie, the city arranged to donate a site and alao provide a tax for maintenance of the library. It waa the understanding that 125,000 would be received, and the Ui provided pro-vided amount to 10 per cent of that sum. The proposed donation is only 115,000, however, how-ever, aa shown by the following communication commu-nication to Mra. J. H. Beatty of the library li-brary committee: "Responding to your communication on behalf of Boise; if the city wll agree by resolution of the Council to maintain a free library at a cost of not less than 11500 a year and provide a suitable site for a buildins;, Mr. Carnegie will provide $15,000 to erect a free public library for Boise. "JAMES BERTRAM. "Private Secretary." The library directors have arranged to go ahead on the basis of $15,000. |
