Show SAD; LJIEBS MAKE $1;C00.000 CN A PATENT BOTTLE . Salt Lake, men Invent a device worth $1,000,0001. ' ft) A bottle that once emptied cannot be refilled. A year's bard work results in a crowning success. ' fflffi(!)ffiffl5)(5)flffiffiSr55fflffi I For a year C. D. Brown 'and J. C. Gustaveson have been . lying awake nights and working days trying to invent in-vent a, non-reflllable bottle. Their efforts ef-forts have at last been crowned with success and now a fortune is within their reach. . For a score of years manufacturers of wines, perfumes, table sauces, patent medicines and in fact all kinds of liquid products have been anxiously waiting for some one of an inventive turn of rnlnd to perfect a bottle that could be filled only once. Big Prizes Are Offered. The refilling of bottles that originally origi-nally contained some - popular, high priced, or well advertised . liquid preparation pre-paration with some inferior imitation has been carried on by unscrupulous men. : ; iWhen this practice began many years ago the legitimate manufacturer began to look around, for some means of protecting pro-tecting himself and the public A non-reflllable- bottle was Just what be needed.- Large sums were offered as premiums to encourage inventors to turn their at-tentlon at-tentlon to the subject. One Arm In Eng- two sides of the plugs ars grooves that run half the length of the plug, form a vertical crescent and continue to the bottom of the plug, making it Impossible Impossi-ble to insert a wire and. dislodge the cork valve. Two glass pins are fitted into a hole running horizontally. through the plug. Between them is placed a small piece of resiliant cork. The plug is pressed down the neck of the . bottle until the Pins come to a groove. The expansion of . the little piece of cork presses the Pins into the groove and the plug Is locked into the neck of the bottle. It Cannot Be Refilled. Liquid flows freely from the bottle when it in inverted, but in any position It is placed It Is impossible to force liquid into it. .. The inventors claim that it will cost 1 only 3 cents more to manufacture this bottle than it does to make a common bottle. They expect to sell a half Interest Inter-est In foreign patent rights and with the money undertake the manufacture I of the bottle in this country. A number of Salt Lake business men who use bottles have seen the model and pronounce the device perfect. They do not hesitate to say that the invention in-vention will be worth at least a million mil-lion of dollars. land offered 230,000 and another in California Cali-fornia offers nearly as much to anyone whose device would serve the purpose. Idea From a 'Clipping, v In January of last year a newspaper containing an article that spoke of the money that could be made by the Invention In-vention of a non-reflllable bottle fell into the hands of Brown and Gustaveson. Gustave-son. They became interested, thought the matter over and one day came to the conclusion that they had hit upon a i practical ' idea. They rented a small building at 220 East Third South street fitted up a shop and worked their Idea Into shape. It was a failure. They continued to ponder and in the months that followed constructed many methods that all proved worthless. They persevered and have at last perfected per-fected a practical device and have had it patented. Like so many other inventions that have made fortunes it is so simple that one looks at it and wonders why it had not been thought of long ago. Description of the Bottle. The base of the bottle neck is made considerably smaller than ordinarily. The part on the inside Immediately surrounding sur-rounding the hole uetween the neck and the bottle is ground saucer shaped. In this saucer and over the hole Is placed a cork hollowed from the underside. under-side. Above the cork Is placed a glass ball that rests on the cork when the bottle is upright. When the bottle is placed in a horizontal position the ball rests in position. -When the bottle is inverted the ball falls away about one-quarter one-quarter of Its diameter and releases the eork. The Fine Part of the "Work. Above the ball Is a glass plug that fits snugly In. the neck of the bottle. On |
