After the hunt-for the assailant of Mrs. Schwan had quieted down a little, there were no further disturbances In the town for several days. Thursday night, however, the old trouble was brought back to the town, and since that time the women have been In terror of the myterlous prowler who attempts to get Into their houses, while the men are at work. A few minutes after 3 o'clock Thursday Thurs-day morning Mrs. Ford, who lives near the Schwan home In Main street was awakened by a man trying to get into the house. Mrs. Ford screamed and the man ran away. An hour later Mm "Whitehead, who lives opposite Mayor Stratton, was awakened by some one trying to force open a window. Her son saw the form of . a man through the ' window. The man heard the boy stumble over a chair and ran before he could be fired upon. |
