He has been identified with labor legislation, leg-islation, and has always been a man of high public spirit. But he has nerer been a politician or office-seeker In the ordinary uss of the words. He is pre-eminently a business man. has made his large fortune wholly by his unaided efforts, and It has been his business ability which has particularly commended him to the people at this tirre.
