Show AMATEUR BOXING GAME GETS BACKSET The boxing fans who paid money to see bouts at the Pastime club Thursday Thurs-day night are both disappointed and sore. Only one bout was put on and the whole thing wound up by the would-be pugs refusing to go on until they had their money. The whole affair af-fair was unsatisfactory to say the least and the spectators did not get their money back, either. There is a bunch of "amateur" scrappers scrap-pers around this town who ought to be put out of business. They have gone on in one or two amateur shows and swell around as If they were feather-weight champions. They are apparently willing will-ing to do anything but fight, but every time they are scheduled to appear they get cold feet or want more money. As far as mbney goes there Is not a single one of them who is worth a $5 preliminary. prelimi-nary. They ought tb be glad to get a four-round bout for enough to eat on for two days, but they do not know apparently when they are well off. Tbe fiasco has disgusted patrons of the sport and virtually killed the amateur ama-teur game here. |
