Show HALES STARS AS RED DEVILS DEFEAT RIVALS Much Improved Club Shows Faster Offense, More Scoring, Defense Power LaMar Hales, playing outstanding outstand-ing ball in both games, led the Springville Red Devils in their win over the Juab Wasps here last week, and also played a brilliant game at Payson as the Devils bowled over the Lions, 30-39. Hales led the scorers with 17 points in the Payson game, and played a nice defensive game against Juab. Coach Art Hughes has a rejuvenated reju-venated and re-shuffled club that is clicking both offensively and defensively, de-fensively, and exhibited a much improved band of basketball for the past two games. Team spirit has taken a jump and should the Devils keep clicking, may give the leading Spanish Fork team a surprise sur-prise when they meet here March 5. Devils Swamp Wasps . . . In their game here with the Juab Wasps, the Red Devils took over a commanding lead in the first quarter and sounded out a definite will to win with a 15-2 lead. They continued to lead throughout the entire game, with Norton, Hales, Christensen hitting hit-ting the hoop to keep the Devils in the lead. Springville lead by 10 points at the end of the third quarter, but a determined rally by Juab brought them within four points as the game ended, 33-37. Lions Next Victim ... For the first half the game at Payson last Friday was a close and well-played battle, with both teams leaving the court deadlocked dead-locked at 16-all. Springville held a 27-22 lead at the third quarter and went on to win, 30-39. The win for the locals gave them a chance to tie with Juab for second place, since Juab lost to Spanish Fork, 48-46, in an extra period at Juab. Springville has only one game left and that with' the Spanish Span-ish Forkers. Springville-Payson box score follows: SPRINGVILLE G. T. F. P.
