Show S Mrs. Lave Bertelesen of this-city this-city was in Salt Lake Saturday to assist family representatives from all parts of the country in effecting effect-ing the King family organization. Approximately 30 people were in attendance enjoying a banquet at the Gold room in Hotel Utah at 1 p.m. Wm. H. King was among the older members of the family present. Mrs. Bertelsen was appointed ap-pointed genealogist of the family organization during the business meeting at which general plans were also announced for a family reunion to be held in the future. Miss Alzada Wilmott of this city left Wednesday on the first leg of her journey to England where she will teach school beginning begin-ning in September. A former teacher in Provo, Miss Wilmott is going to England on the exchange basis. She plans to visit relatives in England and will tour Ireland, Wales, Scotland, France and Holland Hol-land before school begins. Sailing with Miss Wilmott on July 24, will be Mr. and Mrs. Staheli and two sons of Provo. Mr. Staheli is a Provo teacher also. He will teach in an elementary school 40 miles from London and Miss Wilmott Wil-mott will be located at the Sten-hope Sten-hope Junior school, 10 miles from London and will be a music and art instructor. ' Mrs. Jonena Fullmer has received receiv-ed word that her grandson Kent F. Harper, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence K. Harper, has graduated gradu-ated from the Long Beach City College, majoring in mechanical science. He also recently graduated gradu-ated from a four year apprenticeship apprentice-ship at the Navy Yards at Terminal Termin-al Island making him a Journeyman Journey-man machinist. His parents are former residents of Mapleton now making their home in Redlands, Calif. Mrs. Charles Jewett and Glen Fullmer of Salt Lake City attended the graduation and were accompanied home hy Ensign Dwaine Jewett, who has been given his discharge from the Navy. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Paxman of Tacoma, Wash., are spending ten days with Mrs. Jonena Fullmer and other relatives and friends in Springville. They were accompanied accompan-ied to Utah by Bishop and Mrs. Morris of Tacoma. Bishop and Mrs. Morris are visiting relatives in Idaho also. (Paragraphs Olj Interest ... j Mr. and Mrs. Newton H. McDowell Mc-Dowell and sons Jesse and John of Mesa, Ariz., are visiting here with relatives and friends. They are also spending some time in Provo. Mrs. McDowell is the former for-mer Inez Jessee. They plan to remain re-main for the Phillips family reunion re-union Mrs. Wm. R.. Hill and daughters Miss Ana Jane Hill and Mrs. Wm. T. Gleason and the latter's baby daughter Susan all of Salt Lake City were in Springville over the week end visiting at the home John H. Manwaring and family and with other relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. George Roylance and son Orvil and daughter Karen spent the week end at Nephi, where they attended the Ute Stampede Stam-pede celebration and also visited their daughters, Mrs. Sam Sperry and Mrs. Frank Jenkins and families. fam-ilies. Dr. and Mrs. L. E. Ottesen are attending the Pacific Coasf Dental Den-tal conference being held in Salt Lake City this week. The convention conven-tion will close Friday. ' Mr. and Mrs. Nate Arkin and little son Billie of Beverly Hills, Calif., in company with Mrs. Arkin's mother of Los Angeles, have returned to their home following fol-lowing a few days vacation with Mrs. Arkin's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Weight and other relatives and friends. Miss Barbara Bray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Bray, has just returned from an enjoyable month's mon-th's stay with Mr. and Mrs. Mer-vin Mer-vin Bray at Oakland, Calif. While on the coast, she also visited Mr. and Mrs. . Fred Taylor and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gizdich and went on numerous sightseeing trips in and near Oakland. The trip was somewhat of a birthday gift to Barbara, who left for the California Califor-nia vacation on her tenth birthday. Wm. Weight is convalescing at his home from a major operation which he underwent last Friday at the Utah Valley Hospital. He returned home yesterday. |
