Show TANNERY ENDS RUN ON SMALL PEA CROP Less than half as many peas have been processed toy the local W. R. Eddington Canning Company Com-pany this season due to early spring frosts and hailstorms, it was reported .this week. The last of the pea crop will be canned this week, when the cannery will begin on red pie cherries. While crops in the immediate vicinity were not so much affected toy the spring storms and frosts, practically the entire pea crop in the south end of the county and as far north as Lehi was damaged considerably. The local cannery has canned a considerable amount of sweet cherries but these were found damaged also toy the storms and in some cases as much as 15 per cent were culls. Baring unforseen weather conditions, con-ditions, a toig run of corn is expected ex-pected toy the cannery with over a thousand acres contracted. The local Canning Co. has one of the most modern and largest corn canning can-ning units in the state and is recognized re-cognized as one of the biggest canners of this .particular crop. The cannery will also include carrots on its list of canned crops this season with approximately 25 acres contracted. A good run of beans is anticipated with the processing of thi3 crop coming later in the season. |
