Show iiiiiiiiil Ti in p Hike Announced for July 23; Sticks to lie Awarded The traditional presentation of Timp Sticks to the oldest man, oldest woman, and person who has come from the greatest distance will again feature the program the evening before the annual Timp hike set for the morning of July 24, Dr. C. J. Hart, general chairman, chair-man, said today. "In rating those who have come from the greatest distance, only those who have come with the ' primary purpose of making the hike will be counted as eligible. Dr. Hart said. This ruling will eliminate, for example students who may have come to Utah schools for principal purpose of attending school, and who only take part in the hike incidentally. . The program will be held July 23 in the Theater of the Pines at Aspen Grove. It is hoped that as many as possible will plan to camp out at Aspen for the remainder of the night so that they can be ready for the start of the trek at 4 a.m. on the morning of July 24. Those competing ofr the oldest woman, oldest man or person from the greatest ditsance rating must register at a registration table on arrival so that their qualifications can be checked before the program, pro-gram, according to Dr. Hart. An added feature this year will be the awarding of a Timp stick to the one who can display the most Summit badges earned by him since 1930. Those competing in this event should display their badges on a chest band similar to the ones used by Boy Scouts in showing their merit badges, etc., Dr. Hart said. |
