Show SPRINGVILLE MAN INNOCENT IN TRAFFIC CHARGE Melvin Bill Phillips, Springville, was found not guilty of a charge of running a stop sign, after an eight-member district court jury reversed a Springville precinct court verdict and found him innocent inno-cent of the charge the past week. The case, which was appealed from the precinct court, was tried before District Judge William Stanley Dunford. Defense witnesses wit-nesses included Mr. Phillips and Randall Johnson, also of Springville, Spring-ville, while State Trooper Owen Beardall, also of this city, was the lone witness for the state. Mr. Phillips was found guilty in the Springville precinct court on Nov. 7 and sentenced to pay a fine of $10 or spend five days in the Utah county jail. Seven days later he appealed the case to the district court. Signed by Trooper Beardall, the complaint charged that Phillips ran a stop sign on Aug. 29 in Springville.
