Show M Devils Compete In Mo Track Meet Today S Hughes' Thinclads Expected To Make Excellent Showing In Meet Today At Payson; Win Laurels At Y Coach Art Hughes' Red Devil thinclads will compete in the Ncbo district track meet which is being held today on ih Pnvqnn field. The meet will indicate the key men in the Gordon Smith placed first in the broad jump, jumping 19 feet ZV2 inches. Smith tied for second in the sliotput and took third in the discus. Morgan Thomas and Clyde Chris-tensen Chris-tensen took first and second place respectively in the 100-yard dash, and both ran on the winning 880-yard 880-yard relay team, along with Sum-sion Sum-sion and Beardall. Thomas placed second in the 220-yard dash. Neil Beardall placed third in the 440, and Russell Sumsion placed 4th in the mile. - district spring sport and give a$ fair idea as to how the Nebo teams will compare with the Alpine clubs when they meet in the regional track meet in the near future. Springville is expected to pull down its share of wins in the events today at Payson. Devils Shine At 'Y' Invitational . . . Springville track stars and teams came out with flying colors at the B Y. U. Invitational last Saturday, winning first in four events and placing well near the top in several others in the B competition, which, incidentally bettered the A marks in some of the same events. Harold Norton took first in the shotput with a 46 feet 1 inch heave. Norton also captured first in the discus, throwing the platter 134 feet 11 inches. He took second sec-ond in the javelin toss. |
