Show 1' - DRIVE NEARS END Utah's Cancer Fund quola of $50,000 was still a con-sfJcrahle con-sfJcrahle distance off as the 1948 drive of the Utah Division Divis-ion of the American Cancer Society neared its end this week. Some community units had gone over the top, according accord-ing to Eerrell H. Adams, of Salt Lake, state chairrnan of the drive, but the state as a whole was still considerably behind ils goal. It is hoped that late returns might provide the funds ui meet llie budget to carry on at full force the successful Ulah fight on the dread disease. Although "Cancer Control Month" is officially over on May 1, many have not yet been contacted for their contribution contribu-tion to' the fund, according to Mr. Adams. Some live in communities where a cancer unit has not yet been established. estab-lished. Others have been overlooked. The fact remains, however, according to Mr. Adams, that there are few individuals who have not had friends or relatives who suffered or died from the killer disease at some time or another. Knowing the deadly nature of it, and the fact that many may be saved through the American Cancer Society three-way campaign of education, service and research, they will want to save others. This is how it can be done. If a person hasn't yet contributed, con-tributed, he'or she can do so by placing the contribution in an envelope, and addresing it merely CANCER, Salt Lake City, Utah. The postoffice will deliver the letter to the American Cancer Society. The contribution will be credited to the unit in the community from which it was received. - Mail your contribution today. |
