Show ART EXHIBIT NOW ON AT ART BARN IN SALT LAKE CITY Sponsored by the Junior League at the Gallery of the Art Barn in Salt Lake City, is an exhibit of work of the students of the Art Barn School of Arts. An outstanding feature of the show is the variety of styles of the work shown. Colorful and boldly brushed paintings done under un-der the direction of Bert Pumph-rey Pumph-rey are shown alongside delicate, skillful still-life paintings from the Cannon class, and carefully built up works in tempera and oil from the class of Lynn Fausett. The drawings from the life classes, instructed in-structed by Gertrude Teutsch, show marked vigor with emphasis placed on draftsmanship. The commercial classes, exhibiting exhibit-ing their solutions of practical advertising ad-vertising problems, show evidence of the fact that their instructor, Dan Leahy, head of the art depart-', ment of a local advertising firm, knows what is needed in advertising advertis-ing practice. The same keeping in touch with the trade may be noticed in the other commercial classes. All achieve a high level of work. A piece of work here and there, which defies formal classification, shows that the school encourages individual work and experimentation. |
