Of .course there are some circumstances circum-stances under which home ownership owner-ship would riot be advisable, such as financial insecurity or temporary tempor-ary establishment in a community due to the nature of one's job, and so on. In these cases, renting, a home or apartment is preferable, prefer-able, if available. But the natural desire of a family to own its own home today is due to the tremendous tremen-dous shortage of good living ' quarters at reasonable costs. Hence this house was designed with these thoughts in mind of securing a good architect and building at reasonable costs for fair material prices. It is not much larger and just as conveniently conven-iently arranged as an apartment, but with important differences. Each room has cross ventilation. There is a garage opening directly direct-ly into the kitchen, a generous fireplace in the living room, and off it a sheltered terrace for outdoor out-door living and dining. The service rooms face the street, leaving to the living rooms the quiet and privacy of the garden gar-den exposure. Because of its rustproof rust-proof and corrosion resitant qualities qual-ities Copper tube with soldered fittings is being specified in homes of this type for hot and cold water lines, vent and waste lines and for radiant heating. The cost of building this home will vary greatly because of the differences in labor and material prices. We suggest you consult your local building contractor or building supply dealer, showing him this house and plan. If you desire additional drawings and plans, a house pattern catalogue is available at publishers cost for 25c by writing Architectural Department, De-partment, Ladies' Home Journal, Independence Square, Philadelphia, Philadel-phia, Pa. |
