TenEyck, general purchas- Public Invited To Orchestra Concert Tonite At Gymnasium Music lovers as well as ' those who know nothing of music will enjoy the Art Benefit concert to be presented present-ed by the Springville Civic Orchestra, this evening, beginning begin-ning at 8:45 p.m., in the high school gymnasium, announces officers in charge of the event. Directed by John G. Hilgen-dorff, Hilgen-dorff, the concert will feature numbers composed by many famous artists including: Beethoven, Chopin, Schubert, Tschaikovsky, Offenbach, also Strauss's, "Blue Danube Waltz." To stimulate interest in ticket sales, two paintings by Vayno Johnson are being offered of-fered as prizes to those selling the largest number. These awards will be made during the concert. All unsold tickets and receipts must be turned in by 6 p.m., today, so a check may bo made. Fundr, derived from the concert, which is the second presented by the orchestra, will go to the art. ping agent for Geneva Steel, at the Jaycee installation banquet-program on Wednesday evening of the past week, at Chicken Roost. Verl Whiting was toastmaster, and during dur-ing the program he presented the retiring president with the past president's pin. Robert L. Parker, salesman, was installed president of the club succeeding Ray Klauck. Mayland Russell and LaMar Miner are the new vice-presidents; Mays Anderson, Ander-son, secretary; Bill Turner, treasurer; treas-urer; Clarence Smith, Stanley Roberts, 2-year directors; Jey Newman, New-man, Sam Wilstad, Paul Roundy, Richard Oakley, 1-year directors. Bob Jimas, Bingham, state Jaycee Jay-cee president, officiated at the installation in-stallation presenting the president's presi-dent's pin to Mr. Parker and speaking briefly. A handmade gavel from . LaRell Johnson was also presented to the new president presi-dent by Mr. Klauck, who spoke briefly In behalf of the club, the retiring retir-ing president was presented with a lovely gift, a token of appreciation apprecia-tion from fellow clubmen for his services the past year. Also Mrs." Klauck received a nice gift as did Mrs. Evelyn Boyer, editor of the Jaycee News Letter. This honor went to Bill Ostlund, whose achievements as outlined during the presentation included co-chairman of the Fourth of July celebration, celebra-tion, chairman of the Christmas lighting and other club work. I Mayor Price, a special guest of the club spoke briefly complimenting compliment-ing the organization on its activities. activi-ties. Other guests of the evening Included: Mrs. Price, Harrison Conover, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Mrs. Conover; Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Parker of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Eeulah Henrichsen of Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Finneran oT Lehi; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Arnold of Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Jimas of Bingham. A delightful number on the evening's program was the vocal solo by Fred Blackett. The ban-fuet ban-fuet was attended by approximately approximate-ly seventy club members, their partners and other guests. The next meeting of the clu, the first under direction of the newly installed officers, is scheduled on Wednesday, May 5, at Chicken Roost. President Parker also announces plans being formulated for the Fourth of July celebration, which will be taken over by the Jaycees. Bill Ostlund and Sam Wilstad have been appointed to the chairmanship and are considering possibilities of a big mojor event in addition to a parade and other features. |
