Show Governor Maw To Speak At Club Convention Governor Herbert B. Maw, Salt r Z City is expected to be the Scipaf guest speaker at the K convention of the First district dis-trict Utah Federation of Women s riubs to be held in Springville, tturday, March 25, according to na ouncement by Mrs. Harold Stensen, Springville, district president, who will be in charge of the convention meetings. Governor Maw will speak at the afternoon general session begm- ning at 2 p. m. All meeung convene at the Fourth L. D. S. ward chapel, 335 East Center St. A meeting of the district board is scheduled for 9:30 a. m., to be followed by a general session at 10 a m. At 11:15 departmental meetings will be conducted and luncheon will be served at the chapel at noon. The 2 p m. general gen-eral meeting will conclude the convention. At the 10 o'clock meeting, presidents presi-dents of the various clubs in the district will make their reports and officers for the district will be nominated. There will also be the welcoming address and response. re-sponse. - . At the 11:15 departmental meetings at which representatives from each club throughout the district are expected to attend, instructions and suggestions will be given by the various district chairmen on work for the coming year. Culll-more, Culll-more, Provo, drama and literature; litera-ture; Mrs. Mae Huntington, of Springville, art; Mrs. Rulon Nelson, Nel-son, Spanish Fork, legislation; Mrs. Annie P. James, American Fork, education; Mrs. W H. Brown, Springville, press and publicity; pub-licity; Mrs.-Victor -J. Bird, Provo, American home; Mrs. Wilford Pratt, Nephi, international relations; rela-tions; Mrs. Dean Jensen, Spanish Fork, music; Mrs. C. E. Eggert-sen, Eggert-sen, Springville, conservation; Mrs. Glen Sumsion, Springville, nursing, to be assisted by Miss Marie Johnson, R. N., superintendent superinten-dent of nurses at the L, D. S. hospital. hos-pital. pital, who will speak on nursing as a profession, and the U. S. Cadet Nurses Corps. This departmental meeting promises pro-mises to be one of special interest at this time. Officers of the district will be elected at noon, with each club in the district for which district dues have been paid, to be eligible to vote. Presiding over the luncheon at noon will be Mrs. A. L. Carbet of Nephi, district vice president. During the afternoon general meeting, in addition to the talk by Gov. Maw, will be the installation installa-tion of new officers and the completion com-pletion of any other business which may come before the ses- sion. Mrs. Dean Jensen of Spanish Fork, district music chairman, will be in charge of the music for the convention. Delegates and other representatives representa-tives from the nearly forty clubs in the district, including those of Nephi, Payson, Spanish Fork, Springville, Provo, American Fork, Lehi and Heber City are expected ex-pected to attend the convention. |
