Show LESSON SHOULD BE TAUGHT WAR AGGRESSORS Much space is being wasted in the discussion of Finland's dilemma dilem-ma but the matter boils down to the fact that the Finns picked the wrong horse in the race. We have much sympathy for the plight of the Finns but, in a war against civilization, they de- liberately threw tneir sirengtn on the side of the aggressors and they must now pay the cost. It is very essential that this cost be paid. Otherwise the lessons of the present struggle will have to be repeated in subsequent years. It is vital that those who sided with Germany be taught that such activities carry inevitable penalties. penal-ties. It is not a question of vengeance against the Finns. Vengeance should not, and does not, justify any peace terms, even against Japan and Germany. It is a question ques-tion of teaching aggressor peoples that war does not pay and the les-! les-! son would not be emphasized if those who start a war and then lose it, are not penalized. As for the people of Germany and Japan it is necessary that they get this lesson. Nobody wants to punish our enemies just to enjoy en-joy the brutality of the executions. execu-tions. The supremacy of justice requires some punishment for the crimes committed and if the victors vic-tors permit guilty people to escape es-cape punishment they will deserve what they will get, another war later on. |
